So, in an effort to better protect myself from the sun, I bought a new pair of sunglasses and a straw hat today. Feeling that the traditional straw hats were a bit bland, I opted for the straw cowboy hat.
Husband: Um, well, I think that hat conveys a certain kind of person in a certain time period...
Wife: Katherine in 2009?
I don't think that's what he was going for. I still think it's cute and am contemplating disregarding the input. Of course, the reason I had to buy new sunglasses is because I disregarded the input last time when I really shouldn't have. They were excessively large men's aviator glasses, also conveying a certain kind of person (a man) in a certain time period (the seventies). I caved into the siren call of 75% off clearance.
So maybe I should exchange the straw cowboy hat for a traditional floppy.
i love my straw cowboy hat. covers the ears, the back and gives the sense that you just know you are so cool ;)
ReplyDeleteand i am wearing mama's plastic maroon HUGE glasses from the 80's so what does that say about me?
I say post a picture and let us vote. I'm guessing we'll be behind you.
ReplyDeleteI don't get into domestic's.
ReplyDeleteYeah! I think a picture may be necessary! I love girls in straw hats!!!
ReplyDeletei'm sure you look very cute, Katherine. but, yes a picture please.
ReplyDeleteFor a picture, please refer to the numerous young ladies in straw hats on a variety of "reality" shows.
ReplyDeleteAs Katherine pointed out to me: Lucinda Williams wears a straw cowboy hat.
Response: Lucinda Williams/Louisiana Gravel/Dark-Country Rumbler v. Katherine/Suburban Ohio Trombone/Ocean-Sunshine Preacher. Stick with your CST ballcap. Just some uninvited advice.
I completely understand the straw/cowboy thing. We scan flea markets. I look RIDICULOUS. But it's the "Farmer Weldon" garb search. Maybe we'll sew in some bling?
